CEC Meeting Tonight!!!

Hello Parents/Guardians,

Let me first Thank all of you who showed up for last nights PTA meeting.  We had a Wonderful performance from our P.S. 161 children! The PTA raffled off many toys and the children were very happy. Even the parents were able to go home with some gifts.

I mention this last night about a Very important meeting taking place this evening @ 6 pm!  The meeting is schedule to take place at P.S. 22 located at 433 St. Marks Avenue between Grand ave & Classon Ave. Note: The entrance is on St. Marks and Classon.

This is a meeting hosted by the CEC (Community Education Council), who will have the PEP (Panel for Education Policy) out tonight to listen to us parents voice our compassion on not truncating the middles school.  We want the PEP to give our school a chance.  With a new Principal, Superintendent & Network Liaison in place we have earned the right for the Dept of Education to allow us to turn our school around.  Principal Johnson has a great vision for this school and we're asking for the DOE to give us a 3 yr opportunity to make the change for the better.

Parents we have a lot at stake here!!  So please make every effort to come out and show your support and let your voice be heard!

Blessings,

PTA Exec Board

Special Superintendent Meeting

Hello Parents,

I hope all was able to receive the DOE Letter from  Buffie Simmons our new District 17 Superintendent.  This letter discusses the truncating of our crown middle school and the effects that it has on our current students.  Ms. Buffie Simmons will be present at our school on Monday December, 12th at 6 pm in our school auditorium.  She will be addressing and listening to our concerns & questions we may have concerning this issue.  Please check your child's bag for the memos that has been issued on Thursday.

Picture Day!!!

Hello Parents,

We have been receiving money for pictures and so far it has been good;  but many of you have not express what type of background you would like for your child.  We have four different backgrounds, if you have not chosen one, we will have the child take the plain background.  If you would like a background please specify by the code under each  background, email us with your child's name, class & teacher and the background of your choice asap.  The other concern is that we also received envelopes with just money for add-ons.  Parents you can not receive add-ons if your child has not taken a picture.  You would need to purchase a package first and then add-on.  Please settle this by Monday before 9 am, your child would not be able to take any pictures except class pictures.  If you have not brought in your money for pictures, we will be excepting them on Monday by 9 am.

We will be issuing receipts for the pictures to be given to your child on picture day. Please check their bags.

Schedule for grades:
Monday December 12th: K-4th grades    Tuesday December 13th: 5-8th grades

Please have your child in their school uniform( neck ties included, hair groomed, clean shirts, and a smile).

*** Parents if you would like to volunteer for these two days please email us at : ps161pta@gmail.com

Thank you Parents for your support!!! :)
